Auto DM for "Price?" Comments on Instagram: Step-by-Step Setup
Send the product name and price by DM to everyone who comments "price?" on your post. Here is how to set up a comment automation in UlakChat from start to finish.

In this post
The most common comment a boutique gets on a product post is "price?". In this guide we build a flow that sends the product name and price by DM to everyone who leaves that comment. Setup takes about ten minutes and needs no code.
Before you start
You need three things ready:
- A connected Instagram account. It has to be a Business or Creator account. You connect it in the panel with Add Account.
- Your products. Add your products on the My Products page. If you have a lot of them, you can upload them in bulk from an Excel file.
- Post mapping. To send the right price, the system needs to know which product each post belongs to. That's the next step.
1. Link your posts to products
On the My Products page, open the Post Mapping section. Your Instagram posts are listed there. Pick the matching product for each post.
This link is the heart of the flow. When someone comments on a post, the system looks up which product the post belongs to and fills in the product name and price in your message from that product.
2. Create a new comment automation
In the panel, go to Comment Automation and click New Comment Automation.
- Automation Name: A name that makes sense to you, for example "Price questions".
- Account: The Instagram account the flow will run on.
Click Create Automation and the flow editor opens. A comment flow always starts with the Comment Trigger.
3. Set up the Comment Trigger
In the trigger you decide two things: which posts, and which comments.
Posts. If you want the flow to run on all your posts, tick Apply to all posts. If it should only run on certain product posts, select those posts one by one.
Comments. Add a new trigger and choose its type:
| Type | How it works | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Manual Trigger | Matches when the comment contains one of the words you entered ("price", "prices"). Upper and lower case don't matter. | When your customers tend to write the same thing. Uses no AI credit. |
| AI Intent Detector | You write a title and a description, and the AI decides whether the comment matches that intent. | When you also want to catch phrasings like "how much", "cost?" or "can I get a price". |
Write a clear description for the AI Intent Detector. For example:
The customer is asking about the price of the product. Phrases like "price", "how much", "cost", "how much is it".
4. Add a Product Check
After the trigger, connect a Product Check step. It has two outputs:
- Post Has a Product Linked: The comment was left on a post you mapped to a product. The product details can be used in your messages.
- Post Has No Product Linked: The comment was left on a post that isn't mapped.
5. Reply to the comment and send a DM
Add two steps to the "Post Has a Product Linked" branch.
Reply to Comment. This posts a short public reply under the comment. Other people who see the comment can tell the answer went out by DM:
We've sent you the price by DM.
Private DM. This is the DM that goes to the person who commented. With variables, each product fills in its own details:
Hi, Product Name is currently Price.
Add a button to the message under Quick Replies, for example "Choose size and color". When the customer taps it, the conversation moves to the message automation you linked. There, Variant Selection sends the color and size options as buttons, and the customer picks one with a tap instead of typing.
Put a general message on the "Post Has No Product Linked" branch too:
Hi, tell us which product you'd like the price for and we'll help right away.
Someone commented "price?" on the post. The reply under the comment says "We've sent you the price by DM."
Hi, Cream Trench Coat is currently 799 ₺.
Choose size and color
The conversation continues in the linked message automation.
Which Color?
Cream
Which Size?
M
Status of Color: Cream, Size: M: In stock. Price: 799 ₺.
6. Hand the conversation over to a DM flow
You can send only one private message per comment. To keep the conversation going when the customer replies, add a Link Message Automation step at the end of the flow and choose one of your message automations.
From then on, if the customer writes "do you have it in M?" in the DM, steps like size and color selection and stock info continue in your message automation.
If your private message uses buttons or quick replies, this step is required. The panel warns you before saving if it's missing.
Here is the whole flow you just built:
7. Turn it on and test it
Save the flow and make it active. To test it, use another account to comment "price?" on a post you've mapped. Within a few seconds you should see the public reply under the comment and the product details in the DM inbox.
Common mistakes
- The post isn't mapped. The flow runs but no product details come through, because the comment falls into the "Post Has No Product Linked" branch. Check Post Mapping.
- More than one private message. A flow path can have only one Private DM step. Say the rest in the DM flow.
- Late comments. A private reply can only be sent within 7 days of the comment. It's best to turn the flow on before you publish a new post.
- A trigger that's too broad. A general word like "info" also catches comments that have nothing to do with price. Keep your keywords narrow or use the AI Intent Detector.

Frequently asked questions
Should I use keywords or AI?
Keywords only catch the words you type in, and they don't use any AI credit. The AI Intent Detector also understands other phrasings like "how much" or "what does it cost". Every comment sent to the AI is deducted from your monthly credit, even when it doesn't match. On posts that get a lot of comments you can use both together.
What happens if someone comments "price?" on a post with no product linked?
The Product Check step sends that comment down the "Post Has No Product Linked" branch. Put a general message there, for example one that asks which product they mean, and the comment won't go unanswered.
If the same person comments "price?" twice, do they get two DMs?
Each comment is handled on its own. Meta's rule is per comment: you can send only one private message in reply to a single comment.
