Facebook Comment Automation: Auto-Reply to Page Comments
Facebook comment automation replies to comments on your Page posts and sends the commenter a private message on Messenger. Hiding, deleting and liking comments are part of the flow too.
In this post
Facebook comment automation means responding to comments on your Facebook Page posts without being there yourself. You can post a public reply under the comment, send the commenter a private message on Messenger, or hide and delete unwanted comments. In UlakChat you set this up on the same screen as Instagram, with the same steps.
What is Facebook comment automation for?
A store's Facebook Page gets the same questions as its Instagram posts: "price?", "what sizes do you have", "where can I buy this". If the post is boosted with an ad, these comments can reach the hundreds within a few hours. Answering them one by one isn't realistic, and a late reply often means a lost sale.
Comment automation takes this on in three ways:
- Fast replies. The commenter sees a response within seconds.
- Moving to Messenger. If you'd rather not post prices or personal details in public, the commenter gets a message on Messenger.
- A clean Page. Comments with spam, abuse or competitor links are hidden or deleted.
How to build a Facebook Page comment flow
First, your Facebook Page needs to be connected to UlakChat. You do this on the Account Manager page with the Connect with Meta option. We cover the steps on our Facebook Messenger automation page.
Then open a new automation on the Comment Automation screen and choose your Facebook Page as the account. The flow always starts with a Comment Trigger:
- Comment Trigger. Use Select Post to pick one or more of your Page's published posts. Or choose Apply to all posts to catch comments on every post on the Page. Match comments by keyword or with the AI Intent Detector.
- Reply to Comment. Posts a short public reply under the comment, for example "We've sent you the details on Messenger".
- Private DM. Sends the commenter a message on Messenger. It can be text, a button menu, an image or a file.
- Link Message Automation. When the person replies on Messenger, this hands the conversation over to your message automation. Size, color or order questions continue there.
The skeleton of the flow:
As on Instagram, each comment automation is attached to a single account. You build one flow for your Instagram account and another for your Facebook Page. All the steps exist on both platforms, so you only need to plan the logic once.
Replying with product information
On Instagram, you link a post to a product with Post Mapping on the My Products page, then use the Product Check step to put that product's name and price into your message. Post Mapping currently lists Instagram posts only. For comments on a Facebook Page post, Product Check continues on the Post Has No Product Linked branch.
On Facebook, the practical way to share product information is to move the conversation to Messenger. Send a short private message, then use Link Message Automation to hand the customer over to your DM flow. There, steps like catalog search, Variant Selection and AI Product Q&A work on Messenger as well.
Example: questions on an ad post
A cosmetics brand is boosting a Facebook post that introduces its new product. Comments like "price?", "where can I buy it" and "is it right for my skin type" start coming in. The flow could look like this:
- In the Comment Trigger, select only that ad post. Add three options for price, buying and product questions, and define each one with the AI Intent Detector.
- On the price branch, Reply to Comment posts "We've sent you the price on Messenger", and Private DM sends the price along with an "I'd like to order" button.
- Because you used a button, a Link Message Automation step follows. When the person taps the button, the conversation continues in your Messenger flow.
- On the product question branch, a short private message moves the conversation to Messenger again. There, the AI Product Q&A step answers the question from your product information.
What the person asking for the price sees:
Someone commented "price?" on the ad post. The reply under the comment says "We've sent you the price on Messenger".
Hi, the 50 ml Moisturizing Cream is currently 349 ₺.
I'd like to order
The conversation continues in your Messenger flow.
- The flow leaves alone any comment that doesn't fit an option. You answer those yourself from the Comments screen.
Keyword matching doesn't use AI credits. The AI Intent Detector deducts from your monthly credits for every comment it asks the AI about, even if the result doesn't match any option. On a post with a very high number of comments, a balanced approach is to use keywords for simple questions and AI for questions that people phrase in many different ways.
Meta's rules for Facebook comments
Automating Facebook Page comments runs on Meta's official API and stays within Meta's limits:
| Rule | What it means |
|---|---|
| One private message per comment | You can send only one Messenger message in response to a comment. |
| 7-day window | The private message must be sent within 7 days of the comment. |
| The conversation opens when the person replies | If the person replies to your private message, the 24-hour messaging window starts on Messenger. |
| Comment replies are text only | In UlakChat, the public reply under a comment is text. Images and buttons go in the private message. |
That's why your flow has a single Private DM step. If you use buttons or quick replies, a Link Message Automation step follows it. The panel warns you before saving a flow that breaks these rules.
Comments written by the Page itself don't trigger the automation. The flow's own reply isn't treated as a new comment, so it won't start the flow again.
Hiding, deleting and liking
You can use three moderation steps on Facebook Page comments:
- Hide Comment: The comment stays visible only to its author and their friends. This is a gentler option than deleting.
- Delete Comment: The comment is removed for good and can't be restored. Use it for spam and abuse.
- Like Comment: Likes positive comments on behalf of your Page, or removes an earlier like.
The Like Comment step only works on accounts connected through Meta. Facebook Pages are always connected through Meta, so this step works on Page comments without any extra setup. On Instagram, it only works for Instagram accounts connected through Meta.
You use these steps together with a keyword or AI match in the trigger. For example, you can build a separate branch that hides comments containing words like "scam" or "fake". This way only the comments you target are affected, and the rest are left alone.
All comments on one screen
Comments your automations don't answer are collected on the Comments screen. You see comments from your Instagram accounts and Facebook Pages in the same place.
- Filter pending comments and reply to them in bulk.
- Replies you post from the Facebook or Instagram app show up here too, so you won't answer the same comment twice.
- Save replies you use often and reuse them.
Who is it for?
- Stores advertising on Facebook: Moving "price?" comments on ad posts into Messenger.
- Busy Pages: Automatically hiding spam and abusive comments.
- Community-focused Pages: Liking positive comments and leaving a short thank-you reply.
- Businesses already using Instagram comment automation: Bringing the same logic to their Facebook Page.

Frequently asked questions
Which posts does Facebook comment automation work on?
In the Comment Trigger you can pick any of your Facebook Page's published posts, or use the "Apply to all posts" option to catch comments on every post on the Page.
How many Messenger messages can I send to someone who commented?
One. Meta allows one private reply per Page comment, and it must be sent within 7 days of the comment. If the person replies to that message, the conversation continues on Messenger under the 24-hour window.
Does the Like Comment step work on my Facebook Page?
Yes. Like Comment works on accounts connected through Meta. Facebook Pages are always connected through Meta, so you can use this step on Page comments.
Can I build one flow for both Instagram and Facebook comments?
No. Each comment automation is attached to a single account. You build one comment flow for your Instagram account and another for your Facebook Page. The steps and logic are the same.
