Facebook Messenger and Page Comments Are Now in UlakChat
UlakChat now replies to Facebook Messenger messages and Facebook Page comments automatically. Connect your Page with Meta and use your Instagram flows and catalog there too.

In this post
UlakChat now replies automatically to Facebook Messenger messages and to comments on your Facebook Page posts. Once you connect your Facebook Page, the flows you built for Instagram, your product catalog and your inbox work on Facebook as well.
What's new?
This update adds two new channels.
Facebook Messenger. Messages sent to your Page on Messenger go into your message automation. Keyword and AI Intent Detector matching, button menus, product replies from your catalog and Live Support handover all work the same as on Instagram.
Facebook Page comments. You can set up comment automation for comments on your Page posts. You can reply under the comment, send the commenter a private message on Messenger, or hide, delete or like the comment.
Both run on Meta's official API. UlakChat never asks for your password.
Who is it for?
Many businesses that sell on Instagram also have a Facebook Page, and it often gets less attention. Ads run on both platforms, but Messenger messages and comments under Page posts get answered late or not at all.
This update helps most if:
- Your ads also show on Facebook and you're slow to answer the messages that come from there.
- Your Facebook audience is different from your Instagram one, for example a wider age range.
- You already use automation on Instagram and want the same setup on Facebook.
- Spam and off-topic comments keep piling up under your Page posts.
If one of these sounds like you, you don't need to build a new flow. Connect your Page to your existing setup and start there.
How to connect your Facebook Page
It takes a few minutes.
- Open the Account Manager page in the panel.
- Under Add New Account, choose Connect with Meta.
- In the Meta window, log in with your Facebook account and approve the permissions.
- In the Connect Facebook Pages window, select your Pages and any Instagram accounts linked to them.
- Press Connect.
After connecting, the panel offers to import conversations from the last 15 days. If you accept, your older Messenger conversations show up in the inbox too.
The Facebook account you connect with must be allowed to manage messages on that Page. If you connected your Instagram account through Instagram only, nothing changes. Your existing connection keeps working.
One inbox and one catalog with Instagram
Managing Facebook in a separate tool meant setting everything up twice. In UlakChat, both channels share the same setup.
| What | How it works |
|---|---|
| Inbox | Instagram and Messenger conversations together on the Chats screen |
| Product catalog | Products you upload to My Products are used on both channels |
| Message automation | One automation can be linked to an Instagram account and a Facebook Page at the same time |
| Comment automation | A separate flow for each account, with the same steps |
| Comments screen | Instagram and Facebook comments in the same list |
In message automation, the channels work together. Open your existing Instagram automation and add your Facebook Page to its account list, and the flow starts answering Messenger messages too. Replies always go out on the channel the message came from.
There's nothing to do on the catalog side either. If you've uploaded your products once, a customer who asks on Messenger "do you have these shoes in size 38?" gets the same answer as someone asking on Instagram. The product is found in the catalog, size and color options are offered as buttons, and the price and stock of the chosen variant are shown. When you update a product's price or stock, replies on both channels update together.
What the customer sees:
What sizes do the black flats come in?
Which Size?
38
Size: 38 is in stock. Price: 1,149 ₺.
A customer asking the same thing in an Instagram DM gets the same answer.
Quick start
If you're just getting started, we suggest this order:
- Connect the Page. Add your Facebook Page with the steps above.
- Add it to your message automation. If you have a running automation on the Message Automation screen, add your Page to its account list. If not, create a new automation and select your Instagram account and your Page together.
- Test on Messenger. Message your Page from another Facebook account and check that the flow runs.
- Set up a comment flow. On the Comment Automation screen, create a new automation for your Facebook Page. In the Comment Trigger, pick posts or use the "Apply to all posts" option.
- Don't forget a spam branch. A branch that sends unwanted words to a Hide Comment step keeps your Page comments clean.
Differences to know about
Facebook and Instagram work the same way in most places, but there are a few differences:
- The story reply trigger is Instagram only. It doesn't fire for Facebook Page messages.
- Post Mapping currently lists Instagram posts only. For comments on Facebook posts, give the product details in the Messenger flow.
- The Like Comment step is always available for Facebook Pages, because Pages are connected through Meta.
- Monthly active contacts from Messenger are counted separately from Instagram.
Meta's rules are the same on Facebook. You can reply within 24 hours after someone messages you. Only one private message on Messenger can be sent per comment, and it has to go out within 7 days of the comment. For details on the messaging window, see our post on Meta's 24-hour rule.
We've put everything about the Messenger side on our Facebook Messenger automation page.
Frequently asked questions
Do I pay extra for Facebook support?
No. A Facebook Page counts as a connected account and is part of your plan's account limit. People who message you on Messenger count toward your monthly active contacts. Check the pricing page for current limits.
Can I use my existing Instagram flows on Facebook?
For message automations, yes. Just add your Facebook Page to the automation's account list. Comment automations are set up per account, so you need a separate comment flow for your Facebook Page.
I connected Instagram through Instagram before. Do I need to reconnect?
No, your existing connection keeps working. You add your Facebook Page separately with the Connect with Meta option.
